The growing power of the BBC iPlayer has been shown by performance data revealing there were 15 million more TV requests in October 2015 than a year ago.

Overall, BBC iStats reported that there were 313 million TV and radio requests for programmes on BBC iPlayer in October, with requests from computers, mobiles and tablets all increasing, 5%, 9% and 8% respectively. The number of daily TV requests was up by half a million, while 8% of TV requests were for live TV viewing in October. iPlayer TV viewing for October was also up by more than 50 million compared with June 2015.

The Apprentice topped the TV programmes list during the month with episode two receiving 1.9 million requests. Exclusively available on BBC iPlayer, Matt Edmondson's Meet the Candidates also performed well, with 1.1 million requests. The stars of the autumn schedule, Doctor Foster and The Great British Bake Off, had their final episodes in October and these also performed strongly.
