Looking to reinforce their convergent strategy, Orange and Jazztel are starting to distribute smart TVs across their customer base in Spain.

As Jazztel is still keeping a separate strategy despite having been absorbed by Orange, each telco will sell its own models and brands. Orange customers can acquire Samsung's SGH J4500 (32'') and SGH J5600 (43'') - the same models which it distributes with its convergent offer for bars - and Jazztel will sell LG's LF592U (32'') and LF5800 (32'').

Depending on the services subscribed to, customers will be able to buy the sets with discounts of up to 65%. Smart TVs can also be paid for in instalments of €4.95 per month.

Orange sees smart TVs as a tool to increase access to its multimedia TV features, including a video-on-demand (VOD) catalogue with over 2,000 titles and the whole Wuaki.tv portfolio.

Jazztel's buy-out was green-lit in May and Jazztel will start offering Orange TV in Spain during the first quarter of 2016.
