Shortly after Orange and Jazztel announced a smart TV distribution deal, Telefónica has presented its own TV line, Screen Fusion, locked for its Movistar+ platform.

From 14 December, Telefónica's new pay-TV subscribers in Spain will have two Vestel-produced TVs to choose between: a 32'' set for free or a 40'' for €120. Current customers will have to pay €50 for the smallest model and €170 for the largest.

The Screen Fusion will work only for Movistar+ content, as it has an integrated set-top box (STB) which is only able to connect to the Telefónica platform. There is no DTT, thus no access to free-to-air (FTA) TV, and no other smart TV features besides the Movistar interface.

“In Spain, there are over four million pay-TV subscribers with access to premium content and high quality television, which includes new features like multiscreen, DVR or catch-up,” said Luis Miguel Gilpérez, president for Spain, Telefónica. “From now on, everything will also be included in a new screen with an integrated STB which comes to complement other offers like the one we have with Samsung's smart TVs.”
