Mediaset picks Accedo for OTT, smart launch

Mediaset has partnered with Accedo to launch am app for its over-the-top (OTT) platform Mitele on Samsung Smart TVs in Spain.



The app, which was announced by Mediaset last week, is fully powered by Accedo's application management solution, Accedo AppGrid.

This is the first time that Mitele, which includes some of Mediaset's most popular TV content in high definition (HD), has launched a TV app, having previously focused on mobile screens.

“It was particularly important to us to launch Mitele on Samsung smart TVs ahead of the holiday season when most people have more time to watch,” said Jorge Martín Ibarra, development director, Mediaset España. “AppGrid’s flexible and modular approach to application management, enables us to stay ahead of the curve.”

“With nearly six in ten Spaniards watching television on-the-go, it makes perfect sense for Mediaset España to make its OTT service as widely available as possible across networks and devices,” added Michael Lantz, CEO, Accedo.
