The Atreseries launch in Spain has been scheduled for 22 December, just in time to enhance free-to-air (FTA) programming before Christmas.
atreseriesThe channel is Atresmedia's sixth network on Spanish DTT and will be the first of the recently-awarded licences to go live.
Atreseries, which is the Spanish-market version of Atres Series - a similar network operating across Latin America and the US Hispanic pay-TV markets - will be in HD with Dolby sound. Its portfolio is formed entirely by Atresmedia's in-house productions, mostly series, and some films in which the media company has collaborated.
“The channel aims to become a reference network for Spanish fiction,” explained the company prior to the network's official presentation. Indeed, the media corporation has several themed channels focused on fiction, such as Neox or Nova which focus on soap operas.
Being the first new DTT channel to go live, the rest of the companies which were awarded licences are rushing to launch their networks as soon as possible. Secuoya's D10+, Real Madrid TV, Kiss Media's Quiero TV and two unrevealed proposals from Mediaset and 13TV, will launch during first months of 2016.
