Two weeks after closing down following a court order, sports streaming site Rojadirecta is back with a similar domain and identical look, but using a Chinese server.
One of largest pirate streaming sites for the Spanish-speaking online community has returned to life through a simple trick: a slight name change.
Instead of Rojadirecta.me, originally registered in Australia in 2011, the new site is called Rojadirectaes.me, a domain registered in China on 7 December, just a week after the pirate platform shut down. Both the site's look and link structure are the same as the previous version.
Shortly after receiving the court's ruling, Rojadirecta.me closed down, posting a short message which said the platform would be back soon.
For the second time in 2015, the website was forced to close following complaints from the audiovisual industry and football organizations. The site, among the most used in Spain and Latin America, was thought to have cost the broadcast industry in Spain alone €500 million per year.
