Two weeks on-air have been enough for Telefónica+'s Star Wars pop-up channel to conquer audiences on both linear and online platforms.
movistarwarsMovistar+ Star Wars has become the fifth most watched network among the 2.5 million subscribers of Telefónica's linear pay-TV platform.
Star Wars' entire saga - the six films of which were available online for streaming and to download on Yomvi - represented 4% of the platform’s traffic last week, thanks to nearly 170,000 downloads. Indeed, the saga drove downloads to reach a record figure of 3.8 million in a week.
Launched on 1 December for two weeks as a warm-up to the cinema release of Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens, the themed channel was a collaboration between Disney and Telefónica and as well as the six original movies, aired documentaries and special in-house programming 24/7.
