Days after confirming the arrival of the BBC iPlayer to its roster of channels, Apple TV has now added TV streaming service TVPlayer.
The self-described ‘low-cost’, no-contract online pay-TV service will now give Apple TV users the opportunity to watch over 85 of the UK’s TV channels within a single app such as Entertainment, Kids, News, Music, Desi and Lifestyle. An optional premium offering gives access to channels including Lifetime, HISTORY, H2, Crime + Investigation, Discovery Channel, TLC, Investigation Discovery (ID), Animal Planet, Discovery Turbo, Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD, Sony Entertainment Television, Sony Movie Channel, Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Cartoonito and BabyTV.
Commenting on the announcement, Lewis Arthur, operations director of TVPlayer, said: “The fourth generation Apple TV is something we and our viewers have been eagerly anticipating. TVPlayer is all about convenience: being able to watch the TV channels you love whenever you want, at home or on the go. We see the new Apple TV as a great new way for viewers to watch all of our channels. For iPhone and iPad users, TVPlayer’s free app is also available for viewing out of home.”
