Dubai On Demand (dONd), an English language lifestyle channel for Dubai, is officially launching via YouTube on 3 January.

Run by Reim El Houni, former executive producer of Dubai One, and featuring short videos of two to three minutes each, the channel seeks to exploit what it sees as an untapped market of English speakers resident or holidaying in the Emirate who are keen to know more about what to do locally.

“In this region, more and more people are watching content on their phones,” dOnD’s El Houni told The National. “They want to have fun videos that are accessible to them on the go and there isn’t really much available to them that comes out of Dubai at the moment. So until now, if you were living in Dubai or want to come here on a holiday, and want to know what the trends are or events happening, you didn’t have much to consume.”

The online channel will feature local TV personalities Aishwarya Ajit Gordon, Layne Redman and Tom Urqhart, with audience recommendations built into dONd’s review-based shows
