Spark TV, a sister station to commercial channel NTV Uganda, has been launched in Kampala at a concert featuring Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz and Nigeria’s Patoranking.

Aimed at progressive young women, the Luganda TV channel will be available on digital platforms provided by Startimes and DStv, as well as on all free-to-air (FTA) set-top boxes (STBs).

“We have something different from any other television station in Uganda,” Aggie Konde, managing director, NTV Uganda, is quoted as saying in The Monitor.

“The people of Uganda asked us for what they want and we have worked hard to bring it to them. This is a spark to our viewers. I am sure they will enjoy it. Our programming is fresh and youthful. We asked our viewers what we could do for them and they told us to be different. We have indeed given them the difference they asked for,” she added.

Spark TV joins the country’s other Luganda channels Bukedde TV, Delta TV and Star TV.
