Filmin VOD lands on new platforms for Christmas

Spanish video-on-demand (VOD) service Filmin has landed on the fourth generation Apple TV, new smart TV brands and models as well as introducing off-line viewing for iOS.



filmin ipadAhead of its Christmas campaign, and looking to gather some more VOD subscriptions, Filmin has announced several innovative launches, led by a native Apple TV app for the device's latest generation. For the first time, the application enables voice navigation through Filmin's catalogue and playing menu.

The on-demand platform has also launched a new iOS app for iPhone and iPad which enables off-line viewing. Premium users will have up to 12 titles per month to download and watch without Internet connection for up to 30 days.

For now, off-line playing is limited to series, but the whole catalogue will be opened in the coming months. A similar service for Android devices will also launch soon.

Regarding smart TV's segment, Filmin has launched a native app for LG WebOS, the Linux-based system on which every LG screen has been based since last year. LG WebOS support joins a smart TV list with Samsung and Android TV's Sony, Sharp and Philips.

The company's development department is said to also be working on new apps for PlayStation 3 and 4 and Xbox One, to be released in the coming months.
