Although Spain's main pay-TV operators have grasped the chance to buy La Liga's broadcasting rights, the football association has been left with no bids for four out of ten packages, including free-to-air (FTA).

La Liga says it received offers for minor rights packages - such as one game per round of the Copa del Rey, six matches per week of the second division or extensive recaps of the first division - but no offer reached the minimum price, following La Liga’s decision to offer collective broadcasting rights.

The Spanish football association has opened a new biding period, which concludes this week, encouraging operators and TV networks to present new offers. The remaining rights' packages and conditions can be found at its website.

The two most expensive packages were acquired by Telefónica and beIN Sports, with both companies paying up to €2.65 billion for the next three seasons.

A third package has been awarded to Orange-Vodafone, which includes the broadcasting rights for public places and bars. And three other rights blocks, including an extensive second division package and video-on-demand (VOD) rights will be directly commercialised by La Liga.
