Data companies serving Latin American TV are getting ready for an increasing demand for services ahead of next summer's Rio Olympics.

Ernesto Cambursano, CEO of DataFactory, and Jorge Gambier, marketing director at Reportv, told Rapid TV News about their recent partnering agreement and on the future trends of the industry.

“Special events are great driving forces for demand, and we believe the Olympics are to drive a greater demand of our services, as happened during the last World Cup,” said Cambursano. “The future is tied to search engines offering all kinds of data about competitions and the ability to exploit this with small and medium-sized media, in which there are more opportunities.”

Within the future data services for TV, big data has much to say. “Big data has become essential for content providers and operators. Big data is the best tool to make the searching process easier for the user and to create new recommendation systems,” explained Gambier. “Reportv's metadata is used by many platforms in order to implement recommendation tools.”

For the DataFactory CEO, the immediate future is also about screens. “The business has changed a lot and continues changing due to multiscreen,” added Cambursano. “We have invested so many resources in understanding how users behave in front of a football game depending on what screen they're watching. The greatest change is to bond statistics with social and multimedia content.”
