One of the most comprehensive and drawn-out takeovers has now ended with ARRIS International confirming that it has completed the purchase of former rival broadcast technology firm Pace.
The move was first announced in April 2015 with ARRIS revealing it was to acquire Pace in a deal valued at $2.1 billion. The two companies then spend the bulk of the remainder of the year attempting to satisfy individual countries’ regulatory authorities.
With the transaction complete, ARRIS expects the combined companies to transform video and broadband delivery through broadened portfolio, global footprint and customer base. It claims that the transaction combines the strengths of both companies on a global scale — broadening its worldwide CPE leadership with a competitive stake in satellite communications; leveraging new synergies in telco TV; expanding its cloud, network, home, and services portfolio; and increasing its collaboration with the world's leading pay-TV providers. In addition to CPE, ARRIS added that the combination further establishes it as a global leader in HFC/Optics, complementing its established CMTS leadership position.
The newly combined company is incorporated in the UK with operational and worldwide headquarters remaining in Suwanee, USA, the site of the ARRIS corporate offices. “This acquisition enables us to scale our leadership and innovation to transform global entertainment and communications for millions of people," said ARRIS chairman and CEO Bob Stanzione.
"Our combined organisation unites two of the strongest leadership and engineering teams in the industry — giving us the scale, expertise, and technology to make ARRIS, more than ever before, the partner of choice for the world's leading service providers. Together with our customers, we're creating a world of connected, personalised entertainment and communications that blend seamlessly into our everyday lives."
