Taiwanese set-top box (STB) developer ALi has teamed up with Belgium’s Zappware to provide telcos with feature-rich IPTV or hybrid services with a personalised user experience.

Zappware will be integrated onto ALi’s platform to support HD1080P60, MVC video decoding and multistream, and enable remote control of the STB through smartphones and smartwatches.

“We are thrilled to have Zappware’s leading-edge digital TV technology ported on ALi’s reference platform and also future coming ALi chipsets,” said Tony Chang, COO, ALi Corporation.

“With our line-up of chipsets continuingly evolving to integrate forward-looking technologies, ALi has accumulated hundreds of pay-TV operator partners worldwide. We are now joining forces with Zappware so that service providers can benefit from a high-performing future-proof platform ensuring a quick time to market and end-users can have access to revolutionary digital TV experiences.”

Patrick Vos, CEO, Zappware, added: “The integration of our user interface onto the ALi hybrid chipset will bring the user experience that will trigger end-users to use the video solution more, increase video ARPU, create stickiness and turn viewers into consumers.”
