Netflix releases pricing plans in India

Pricing has been released for the Indian version of the online streaming service Netflix, announced as part of the US company’s130-market expansion by CEO Reed Hastings at CES 2016 on 6 January.
The basic standard definition (SD) service for single screen viewing will cost INR500 a month, while the standard package, providing high definition (HD) content on two screens, is available for INR650 per month. The premium plan, which enables HD and Ultra HD viewing on four screens simultaneously, costs INR800 per month.
A month’s free trial to the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service is available to new subscribers across India.
Viewers in India will be able to watch Netflix original series such as Marvel’s Daredevil and Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Narcos, Sense8, Grace and Frankie, and Marco Polo, as well as a catalogue of licensed TV shows and films.
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos has announced that 600 hours of original programming will be simultaneously delivered worldwide to subscribers this year.
This will include 31 new and returning original series, 24 original feature films and documentaries, stand-up comedy shows and 30 original children’s series.
Highlights include The Crown, which is about the young Queen Elizabeth, and a Baz Luhrmann-directed series called The GetDown about the emerging disco, graffiti and hip hop culture of New York in the 1970s
