BBC Worldwide has taken Dancing with the Stars to Colombia's RCN, which has premiered the first locally-produced edition, Bailando con las Estrellas.

From yesterday (12 January), the first season of 55x60’ episodes, started airing on RCN, aiming to succeed in Colombia's prime time.

“Not many dancing shows have managed to reach as high levels of audience and popularity as Dancing with the Stars, which has already become a classic,” said Anna Gordon, executive VP, BBC Worldwide Latin America and US Hispanics. “We trust Bailando con las Estrellas enables this series to conquer new fans and spaces within the television market.”

Bailando con las Estrellas is presented by Patrick Delmas and Taliana Vargas, and will see 15 dancing couples competing against each other. Among celebrities taking part in the show are Natalia Paris, Flora Martínez, Endry Cardeño, Mike Bahia and Galy Galiano.

The judges are Zumba creator Beto Pérez, Royal Ballet dancer Fernando Montaño, and Niina Shablinskaja, worldwide ballroom dance champion. In addition, the audience will get a chance to vote through the network's website.

BBC's Dancing with the Stars has been adapted in over 50 countries, including Costa Rica a year ago
