Snapchat delivers more than seven billion video clips each day, making it into a video juggernaut on par with Facebook, which has 15 times as many users.

The messaging service, which has more than 100 million users, drives most of its video traffic from Stories, an app feature that lets people share clips that are viewable for 24 hours. But it also has corporate users that drive video traffic.

International news channel Al Jazeera English for instance in October announced that it would increase its digital presence with the launch of AJENews on Snapchat. The account aims to deliver news in an engaging format, using field-based reports as well as those from the newsroom.

"We're inviting the world to engage directly with the journalists who bring us the news," said Imad Musa, manager of online, Al Jazeera English.

Sources told Bloomberg that Facebook, which has 1.55 billion users, had more than eight billion daily video views in the third quarter on both desktops and mobile devices.
