Level 3 has expanded its global data centre network with the opening of a new data infrastructure in Cali, Colombia, enabling improvement of streaming services on fibre and in the cloud.
This data centre is its third in Colombia, with two more in Bogota, and the 14th in Latin America. The centre offers high-density power, redundancy, security and scalability to support rising enterprise requirements and applications.
The Cali data centre will offer Colombian customers access to Level 3 cloud connect solutions and global connection through Level 3's sub-sea cable landing station on Colombia's Pacific coast.
“We decided to add this data centre in Cali because it is the main urban and economic engine for southwest Colombia. Level 3's fibre optic cable runs undersea for 300 kilometres to the seaport city of Buenaventura and then 154 kilometres over land to the city of Cali making Valle del Cauca, an important city for a data centre,” pointed out Felipe Gómez Jaramillo, data centre and security director, Level 3, Colombia.
Level 3's global data centre footprint offers a streamlined solution with its direct connectivity to its global fibre networks, metro market reach and comprehensive services portfolio. It meets a variety of demands, from cloud and virtual services to hosting, storage and back-up to operating system management.
