Grey Juice Lab takes Hollywood to Movistar Colombia’s VOD service

Strengthening its relationship with the Telefónica-owned company, Grey Juice Lab has been chosen to provide content and services for its Movistar Video service in Colombia.



Telefónica has contracted Grey Juice Lab to identify and define the best content for the new transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) service and will provide the regional operator with more than 400 new titles a year. Grey Juice Lab is also providing Telefónica with a range of premium services including content processing and delivery, subtitle and metadata creation, content programming and marketing.

The enhanced Movistar Video catalogue will feature content from major Hollywood studios, including Disney, Universal, Paramount, FOX and Warner Brothers, as well as several independent content providers. The service kicked off at the end of 2015 with films such as Fifty Shades of Grey, Jurassic World and The Avengers: Age of Ultron among others. Set for launch in 2016 will be Man from U.N.C.L.E., Ted 2 and Hitman: Agent 47.

Commenting on the deal, Telefónica’s Julián Rodriguez Montero said: “[We have] been working with the Grey Juice Lab team for a long time and they have proven their expertise in the creation and operation of on-demand services . The launching of this new rental service has risen the bar for innovation to our clients and Grey Juice Lab has been the perfect partner to help us do so, thanks to its experience in this market”.
