Shane McMahon has become vice chairman of YOU On Demand, the Chinese-based video-on-demand (VOD) company he founded.
McMahon, an American, has assumed the role after Xuesong Song stepped down from his position as executive chairman. Song will remain with the VOD company on the board as a director.
YOU On Demand has also added two members to its board. Bruno Wu, the founder and CEO of Sun Seven Stars Media Group — which has $10 million in YOU On Demand — was elected as the new chairman of the company.
McMahon stepped down as CEO of YOU On Demand in July 2013, and appointed Weikang Liu as his successor, while remaining principal executive officer and chairman of the board.
Prior to setting up the multi-platform entertainment company in China, McMahon was the former executive vice president of global media for his family-owned company World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). A former professional wrestler, he is the son of WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.
