EUTELSAT 9B on track for 28 January launch

Leading satellite operator Eutelsat has revealed that its 9B craft is on track for launch by an ILS Proton rocket on 28 January 2016 from the Baikonour Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
The five-tonne satellite built by Airbus Defence and Space will be the first of three Eutelsat satellites to launch in 2016, followed into space by EUTELSAT 65 West A and EUTELSAT 117 West B. the Ku-band EUTELSAT 9B will occupy the 9° East position neighbourhood and is attributed with being able to increase Eutelsat capacity to 50 physical transponders.
The satellite 9B will address broadcast markets through one pan-European footprint delivering coverage for four regional footprints serving Germany, Greece, Italy, and the Nordics with the Baltics and Ukraine. The satellite will replace EUTELSAT 9A that currently serves over 350 channels, of which 100 are in high definition, broadcasting to cable, DTH and DTT homes across Europe and serving clients that include M7 for the KabelKiosk and AustriaSat Magyarország platforms as well as OTE, AFN, Arqiva, Globecast, Media Broadcast and RR Media.
