Only days after switching a local affiliate to CBS, Media General has reached an agreement with NBC Television Network to renew its existing affiliations in 13 markets.

Media General’s portfolio of NBC stations will now be synchronised under one common agreement that includes the following affiliates: WFLA-TV in Tampa; WCMH-TV in Columbus; KXAN-TV in Austin; WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids; WAVY-TV in Norfolk; WDTN-TV in Dayton; KSNW-TV in Wichita; WSLS-TV in Roanoke; WSAV-TV in Savannah; WCBD-TV in Charleston; KWQC-TC in Davenport; WWLP-TV in Springfield; and KSNT-TV in Topeka.

“NBC is a longstanding and valued partner, and we are pleased to have reached a new agreement that reflects the value of our mutually beneficial relationship,” said Vincent Sadusky, president and CEO at Media General. “We look forward to an exciting 2016 with the return of the Summer Olympics on NBC, a robust political election and other opportunities to leverage our strong local television stations.”

“Media General is a terrific partner to NBC and we are very pleased to extend our affiliations with them. We look forward to strong continued collaboration between our two companies,” added Jean Dietze, president, affiliate relations, NBC Broadcasting.

Meanwhile, beginning 29 February, WNCN-TV will switch from an NBC affiliate to a CBS affiliate. The local CBS affiliate was previously on Capitol Broadcasting’s WRAL-TV. Upon the date of the switch, Media General, one of the largest CBS-affiliated station groups in the US, will own or operate 23 CBS affiliated television stations.
