Sky Go, claimed to be Europe’s leading mobile TV service, is to get what its developer says is its biggest ever redesign in UK and Ireland.

RTvN 21 Jan 2016 Sky GoSky Go launched on mobile devices in July 2011 and the updates are part of what Sky says is its commitment to innovating on its mobile TV platform, and are designed to put both live and on-demand TV at the heart of Sky Go.

The enhancement programme has begun already with a brand new home page for the mobile app and Web service for Android users with an iOS update to follow in February as part of a phased roll-out. Customers who use the Sky Go web service will find the whole site and navigation has been overhauled with a new home page across all platforms. The Android update also introduces a landscape user interface.

Later in 2016 Sky will introduce more features that it claims will make the experience of watching whenever and wherever even better. These include making the app more intuitive, surfacing more shows, sports and movies to customers. It will also attempt to become simpler to binge on box sets with a ‘watch next episode’ feature and be easier to find more films that customers are already watching.

“This is just the start of a really exciting year for Sky Go - an app that’s led the way in watching on-the-go and loved by millions of people around the UK,” commented Michele Swaine, director of product development. “Both the redesign rolling out today and brilliant new features coming later this year are all part of our commitment to making finding the best TV brilliantly simple. So grab your phone or tablet, log in, and enjoy your favourite TV wherever you are.”
