The German brand management and media company m4e AG and Spanish-Italian Planeta Junior have signed a co-production, distribution and merchandising partnership.

As part of this strategic alliance, several programme rights of Planeta Junior and some of m4e's new developments will be jointly co-produced. In addition both parties will distribute each other's audiovisual catalogues in their markets.

Planeta Junior, a joint venture between Italy's DeAgostini and Spain's Grupo Planeta, will focus mainly on France and Southern Europe, while m4e will cover Central and Northern Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Americas.

Through this new venture, both companies will have access to offices in eight European countries: Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Poland and Benelux. In addition, an expansion into other major territories is planned in the medium term.

“This strategic collaboration represents a major step for the m4e group in terms of distribution, managing our rights and consumer products business in Europe, as well as financing for our production slate,” said Hans Ulrich Stoef, CEO of the m4e group.

“This alliance is a perfect match for both companies since m4e and Planeta Junior share the same concept of the entertainment business. It establishes the ideal framework for our creative teams to develop new and exciting properties,” added Ignacio Segura de Lassaletta, general manager, Planeta Junior.
