The total turnover of video-on-demand (VOD) services is expected to rise to 717 million in Germany this year an increase by 24% compared with 2015 (579 million).
The figures were reported by German industry association Bitkom with reference to research from IHS.
Free-of-charge, ad-funded services like YouTube, MyVideo or Clipfish will reach a total turnover of 316 million this year while fee-based platforms like Netflix, iTunes or maxdome will accumulate 401 million, according to the report.
More than three quarters of German internet users above 14 years of age (76%) in Germany watch online videos.
