Alterna’TV expands into New York City

Eutelsat Americas subsidiary Alterna’TV has inked a distribution agreement with New York’s Star Cable.
Star Cable will deliver Alterna’TV’s international channel roster, including Mexico’s general entertainment channels Canal 22 Internacional, Canal ONCE, Telemicro and CBTV Michoacan, the popular children’s network Fix & Foxi, as well as international sports channels PXTV, Latin American Sports (LAS) and AYM Sports to its subscribers in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx in New York.
“Alterna’TV offers an impressive and enterprising opportunity for cable service providers in that they have a broad spectrum of entertainment choices, in both English and Spanish, which is very appealing to our ethnically diverse subscriber base,” said Sid Sohail, vice president at Star Cable. “In one agreement, we can provide viewers with access to general entertainment, cultural programming and the latest news from throughout Mexico, special interest sports channels, children’s entertainment. It’s a turnkey operation and we’re thrilled to be working with them.”
About a year ago, Alterna’TV appointed Roberto Perez as senior director for marketing and distribution in the US, Canada and Mexico, to spearhead the push into new markets like New York City.
