Discovery Communications has hired Suzanne Kolb as EVP and GM of Discovery Digital Networks.

Kolb will oversee the company’s programming and content development efforts for digital and streaming. Most recently, Kolb was president of NBCUniversal’s E! Entertainment network. While at E!, she launched such franchises as Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Chelsea Lately, Botched and Total Divas, and green lit the network’s first original scripted series, the Royals. She left E! in September 2014.

Prior to that, Kolb was EVP of marketing at The WB Television Network, where she developed campaigns and ad partnerships for series including Dawson’s Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville and Gilmore Girls.

Kolb reports to Karen Leever, former sales exec at DirecTV, who joined Discovery as EVP and GM of digital media last fall.

“We are very fortunate to have Suzanne leading Discovery Digital Networks – networks that engage millennials and offer meaningful opportunities for advertisers and partners wanting to reach them,” Leever said. “She is an accomplished entertainment executive and content champion, and I look forward to seeing DDN thrive under her leadership.”
