Mediapro has updated the broadcasting infrastructure of FC Porto's channel to HD in Spain.
The Portuguese channel has been airing its HD feed for almost two weeks as a part of the testing period after Mediapro carried its technological update, refurbished infrastructure and helped to build a new production centre in the Dragao stadium. As a part of the deal, the original production area in Oporto has also seen its capacity increased.
The HD updating of Porto Canal has been carried by Mediapro's Portugal subsidiary, which has been collaborating with the network since it first aired in 2006.
Currently, the channel is also trying to diversify its schedule, betting on general programming and information as a complement to its exclusive football content.
Following a recent agreement with the football club, Portugal Telecom will own the broadcasting rights of Porto Canal for 10 years, starting in 2018.
