Indian direct-to-home (DTH) TV operator Airtel Digital registered 11,106 million subscribers at the end of December 2015, up from 10,576 million at the end of the preceding quarter.
Net customer additions during the third quarter (ending 31 December 2015) reached 530,000 – the highest in the last 18 quarters, according to the Bharti Airtel-owned satellite TV operator.
Average revenue per user (APRU) increased from INR214 in Q3 2015 to INR229 (US$3.5) in Q3 2016, which Airtel Digital TV attributed to higher high definition (HD) penetration and upselling of packs.
Monthly churn for the pay-TV operator was also reduced to 0.7% from 1.3% in Q2 and 1% in the third quarter of the preceding year.
Total revenue in Q3 2016 increased to INR7.422 billion, up 19% year-on-year from INR6.234 billion. EBIDTA for Q3 2016 grew 45% to INR 2.474 billion (a 33.3% margin) as compared to INR1.707 billion
