The long-running and beloved US game show Family Feud has achieved its highest national household and demo ratings since the advent of People Meters in 1987.
FremantleMedia North America-owned (FMNA) and Lionsgate-owned Debmar-Mercury-distributed, the show is hoping to maintain the steam heading into the February sweeps.
During the week of 18 Januar, the game show, which is now hosted by Steve Harvey, scored a 7.5 household rating and easily surpassed its previous best of a 7.2, which it achieved twice last season and again last month during the week of 4 January. Additionally, it rose 7% from the previous week and 10% from the corresponding frame in 2015. In the past four weeks, Family Feud has added 1.7 million broadcast homes, pushing its season-to-date programme average 6% over the same time last season.
“We couldn’t be happier to see more and more audiences discovering Family Feud and making it part of their daily TV viewing experience,” Jennifer Mullin, co-CEO at FMNA. “With 40 years on air, it’s one of our strongest formats at FremantleMedia, and coupled with Steve’s great talent as an entertainer and host, Feud continues to have a broad multi-generational appeal.”
