Electus partners with Bear Grylls guru on production JV

Electus has partnered with Delbert Shoopman to back the creation of a new television production company, Jackknife Media.



Shoopman, head of production and head of branding for Bear Grylls Ventures (BGV), will serve as CEO of Jackknife Media, while retaining his title and duties at BGV.

“Electus and Bear Grylls Ventures have worked closely together for years with great success, and Del is a big part of that,” said Chris Grant, CEO of Electus. “We wanted to formalise this amazing partnership, and take Del’s business and talents to the next level by providing a vehicle for him to pursue his own brand of programming.”

Shoopman also currently serves as the executive producer, consulting producer and creator for a multitude of television shows both in the United States and abroad including The Island (Ch.4 - UK/NBC), Running Wild with Bear Grylls (NBC), Mission Survive (iTV), Survivor Games (Dragon TV), Survival School (iTV) and Get Out Alive (NBC). The Island earned Shoopman his first BAFTA award, as well as a Royal Television Society Award in 2015.

“Jackknife Media will be powered by Electus, which provides the infrastructure for us to begin selling and producing exceptional content immediately,” said Shoopman. “Chris Grant and his team are the best in the business, and Jackknife Media represents the next chapter in our successful partnership.”
