ingresos audiovisualSpaniards seem to like fibre and convergent packages, as IPTV is the only service experiencing real growth within the audiovisual industry. According to Q2 2015 figures published by the Comisiσn Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC), fibre-based TV has rocketed 153% since the same period in 2014, reaching over 147 million invoiced in the quarter.
Free-to-air (FTA) TV, traditionally taking the biggest slice of revenue, has also made less than pay-TV for the second quarter in a row. While FTA driven by an increasing advertising market invoiced 492 million, pay-TV's revenue was 515 million.
Direct-to-home (DTH) platforms also showed growth (29.4%), although subscription figures have stabilised during the last quarter. However, satellite still generated 294.5 million for the audiovisual industry.
Advertising is TV's largest source of income, with 577.2 million, 100 million of which was invoiced by pay-TV. From the 477-plus gained by FTA TV, Atresmedia and Mediaset, the two largest groups, got 88.4%.
Regarding subscribers, Q2 figures show 5.36 million subs, 3.5 million of which pay for a convergent package with several telecom services.
