BBC Worldwide has announced an agreement with Vivicast Media which will bring 700 hours of BBC content to the English-speaking Caribbean audience.
The content portfolio will air through the CalaClassics channel, a pay-TV network distributed across the region by LORAC Communications.
The four-years agreement includes 1,500 episodes of classic BBC comedies and soap operas such as EastEnders, Yes Minister, The Black Adder and Last of the Summer Wine, as well as recent hits like Doctor Who.
Through CalaClassics, the content will be available for the British Virgin Islands, Caiman Islands, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Saint-Marting and Trinidad & Tobago.
“This agreement enables the BCC to expand its brand beyond its regular distribution channels and offer the Caribbean audience some of the titles that have made BBC one of the main content producers in the world,” said Anna Gordon, executive VP for Latin America and the Hispanic US, BBC Worldwide.
“Offering BBC content on CalaClassics is an important drive for our commercial customers, both operators and content providers,” said Stuart Smitherman, president, Vivicast Media. “Through these kinds of deals, we are able to deliver exactly what every TV business is looking for.”
