The word affordable may be very relative, but Sony’s new 2016 BRAVIA TV series that offer 4K HDR capability will be priced from a not so outrageous £1500 in the UK.

RTVN 17 Feb 2016 SOny Available to pre-order online and from Sony Centres from March 2016, the company says that its new BRAVIA TVs will take 4KTV viewing to the next level, with higher brightness, higher contrast and vibrant colours, resulting in more depth and detail than ever before thanks to its unique technologies.

Sony says that it will also bring signature style and exciting new connected entertainment experiences into every living room with Android TV. Viewers will be able to see smartphone content on the TV screen with Google Cast. By touching a ‘Cast’ icon, viewers will be able to send films, TV shows and YouTube content from an Android/iOS device to view on BRAVIA. However, Google Cast is supported by some applications which are not yet available for Android TV.

In addition, Sony claims to be the first TV maker to integrate and offer the YouView free on-demand service to UK consumers on 4K HDR TVs. The inclusion of YouView provides Sony customers with a combination of live and catch-up TV through the award-winning scroll back user interface.

The BRAVIA 4K HDR TV range begins with the KD-55XD8505 priced at £1500 and extends to the £4000 KD-75XD8505. Sony is confident that it will be ready to take advantage of the new wave of HDR-enabled content coming from online video services like Amazon Video and Netflix, film-makers and broadcasters.
