Motivated by the one million broadband subscriber base owned through its Chilean operation VTR, Liberty Global will launch Horizon's IPTV, VOD and cloud TV services in the South American country.
chile libertyLiberty's recently-announced 2015 results, showed that VTR saw its greatest growth of broadband clients in eight years.
Targeting this rising customer base, Liberty Global will expand next-generation video services in Chile by launching Horizon TV. Through an interactive set-top box (STB) running on ADSL, the TV platform includes cloud TV services like cloud DVR, video-on-demand (VOD) and other applications that make a regular TV into a smart device.
Horizon TV will also enable viewers to watch TV on-the-go through a TV everywhere app for mobile devices.
The IPTV service will arrive on top of VTR's cable platform, which already leads Chile's pay-TV market with over one million subs and a 35% market share.
Liberty Global already has Horizon TV operations running in other markets including the Netherlands, Poland, Germany and Ireland.
