Fattening up its skinny TV package, comms giant Verizon has introduced the next generation of its Custom TV bundle.
Targeted at value-conscious customers, the new Custom TV has two basic plans. Custom TV – Essentials offers content in the lifestyle, entertainment, pop culture, kids and news genres including Discovery Channel, Lifetime, History, Bravo, Fox News and other channels. Custom TV – Sports & More has leading sports networks, such as NBCSN, Fox Sports 1 and ESPN, all regional sports networks in a customer’s market in the US, and some non-sports channels on TV from a variety of genres, including Cartoon Network, CNBC and TNT.
After choosing their plan, customers can enhance their channel line-up by selecting up to three additional, genre-based add-on packs for $6 each and Custom TV customers will also receive the Fios TV Local package, which includes the customer’s local broadcast channels and other local programming. Customers that want the most content can also still purchase Verizon’s more traditional Fios TV plan that offers a broad collection of programming with more than 625 all-digital channels including up to 185 HDTV channels and over 100,000 on-demand titles.
“For many customers, less is more – they would rather pay less and get more of the content they are actually interested in,” said Tami Erwin, president of Verizon’s Consumer and Mass Business group. “The original Custom TV has proven very popular since we launched it last year, and we’ve incorporated our customers’ feedback to make the next generation of Custom TV even better with a simpler choice and a much wider variety of channels available.”
