Australia’s Network Ten is following fellow free-to-air (FTA) broadcaster Nine with an FTA high definition (HD) version of its primary channel.
Network Ten shows such as I’m A Celebrity, Family Feud, The Project, The Living Room, NCIS and Modern Family will be available on Channel 13 from 2 March.
The move comes after the Nine Network launched 9HD among a number of broadcast initiatives at the end of 2015.
Ten’s sports events will also be broadcast in HD, starting with the first leg of the 2016 V8 Supercars calendar and the 2016 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
New shows coming to Network Ten including Long Lost Family, All Star Family Feud and The People v O J Simpson will also be shown on the HD channel.
“There has been a clear, growing demand from our audiences for HD and I’m delighted that recent changes to legislation have allowed us to bring all the excitement of HD to Ten for the first time,” said Paul Anderson, CEO, Network Ten.
