Viacom VP to lead Spanish pay-TV trade body

Manuel Gil, senior VP general manager for Spain at Viacom, has been appointed as the new head of Conecta, the country's association of themed pay-TV channels.
manuel gilIn addition, Carolina Godayol, general manager for Spain, The History Channel, has been named vice president.
Gil, who has been VP until now, will replace Eduardo Zulueta, AMC Networks' president in Spain. It's an honour for me, and I will be working to consolidate the pay-TV industry in Spain, said Gil.
Since 2007 Conecta has represented content producers and themed pay-TV networks operating in Spain. Currently, 36 channels and nine international media groups form the association, including AMC Networks International, FOX Networks, Sony Pictures Television Networks, The History Channel Iberia, The Walt Disney Company, Turner International, NBC Universal International Networks and Viacom International Media Networks.
Conecta aims to increase awareness of pay-TV in the country and connect potential advertisers with the themed channels.
