Univision enters into venture with Telemundo Studios head

Univision has signed a content-production alliance with Patricio Wills, president of Colombia's RTI Producciones and head of Telemundo Studios Television.
univision randi willsThe joint venture aims to create series focused on Hispanic and Latin American audiences, with initial productions scheduled to premiere on UniMás in October.
“No doubt Patricio Wills is innovative and one of the best content creators in the media industry,” said Randy Faclo, president, Univision. “We intend to make of UniMás one of the main free-to-air Spanish-language networks, which is why we are happy to join forces with Wills in order to offer new content to our audience.”
The deal is not the first RTI Producciones alliance with a major Spanish-language programmer, as the company produces content for both Televisa and Telemundo Studios, a NBC Universal division and direct competitor of Univision.
Among other titles, Wills' company has produced soap opera hits like La Viuda Negra, La Reina del Sur and Zorro, which saw success in both the US Hispanics and Latin America. Moreover, it has produced La Viuda Negra II, which premiered yesterday (28 February) across Univision networks.
