Hong Kong post-production house Penta Post has bought a Quantel Rio for editing and finishing TV commercials and documentaries.

The sale also includes a Neo Nano colour correction control panel to interact with the Quantel Rio, supplied in a 2K configuration.

“Quantel Rio lets us work in a true non-linear fashion. We manage colour grading, compositing, and audio effortlessly during any time within our production. This type of flexibility is a huge advantage for us given the tight deadlines we’re often under,” said Cheuky Wong, co-founder and senior online editor/colourist at Penta Post.

The deal, completed by SAM – the new company formed after the merger of Quantel with Snell – will enable Penta Post to finish its file-based work interactively and in real time.

Tim Felstead, head of product marketing, SAM, added: “The post production market is important for SAM, especially in Hong Kong where we’re seeing one of the fastest growing film markets in the world. Penta Post needs the most sophisticated colour toolset at its fingertips; there is no better choice than Quantel Rio to help them produce leading creative content in what is a very competitive marketplace.”
