Balaji Telefilms readies OTT service with Xstream, Diagnal,

Indian studios Balaji Telefilms has teamed up with over-the-top (OTT) specialists Xstream and Diagnal to run its video streaming service ALT Balaji when it lauches this summer.



Xstream will supply its MediaMaker cloud-based video management system while Diagnal will conduct front-end design, development, big data solution and systems integration.

“ALT Balaji wants its audience to enjoy compelling stories and does not want technology to be a stumbling block in their experience. We believe that technology is an enabler and if it's invisible to the consumer then we have done a great job,” said Sunil Nair, COO, ALT Digital Media Entertainment.

“Xstream gives us world class solutions that are flexible, allowing us to offer seamless, smooth user experience in video playback. Their experience combined with the depth of knowledge of the Diagnal team has helped us very quickly build a fabulous platform.”

XStream uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) to ensure quality delivery, and EC2 to operate APIs and customer facing services. S3 is used for robust storage of content and assets, which is then served using Cloudfront. RDS and Redshift are used for metadata and statistics.

Balaji Group’s new multiscreen entertainment offering, announced in 2015, is part of the production studio’s strategy develop on-demand, original and exclusive digital content for subscribers around the world.
