Scripps appoints LATAM MD

Scripps Networks Interactive has appointed Eduardo Hauser to the position of managing director, Latin America and the Caribbean.



Hauser will join the company on 7 March and will be based in Miami. He will be responsible for the strategic direction and daily operation of the company’s businesses across Latin America, which currently includes Food Network, as well as the company’s distribution across the Caribbean. He also will be tasked with identifying and evaluating growth opportunities across the region, including potential new network launches, joint ventures and key partnerships across multiple platforms and distribution channels.

“Eduardo’s extensive pan-regional media experience coupled with his astute vision and entrepreneurial spirit will position Scripps Networks well as we look to evolve and expand our business across Latin America,” said Jim Samples, president, international, Scripps, to whom Hauser will report. “Latin America is a rich media centre and with Eduardo at the helm, we are confident that we will be able to realise our full growth potential.”

Earlier in his career, Hauser created the partnership between Cisneros and AOL to launch AOL in Latin America; he also played an integral role in creating the joint venture between Hughes Electronics, Cisneros, Mexico’s Multivision and Brazil’s Grupo Abril to launch DIRECTV Latin America.

Prior to joining AOL as EVP for Latin America, he spent ten years with Cisneros, most recently as managing director, office of the chairman. Hauser has also held senior leadership roles with Cricket Media and Venevision.

Additionally, Hauser has developed two other businesses – Hauser & Co, an investment and advisory firm focused on media, technology, education and restaurants, and DailyMe, a start-up offering personalisation technology focused on the genre of news. Hauser also helped develop Soy TED, a TV format based on the TED Talks series targeting the Spanish-speaking audience.

Hauser holds a JD from Venezuela's Universidad Catolica Andres Bello and a Master of Law degree (LLM) from Duke University.
