Ten Sports acquires Indian basketball league rights

South Asian sports broadcaster Ten has acquired the rights to broadcast the next five seasons of professional basketball in India, following a deal with United Basketball Alliance (UBA).
Mr. Rajesh SethiThe second season of the UBA Pro League, now airing until 3 April, will have a minimum of 36 live matches produced in HD and featuring commentary from broadcast veterans Paul Crane and Victor Howell.
“We are delighted to partner with UBA for India’s first professional basketball league. I am confident that UBA will change the face of Indian professional Basketball forever,” said Rajesh Sethi, global CEO, Ten Sports.
“There is a lot of participation in basketball among younger audiences and through the UBA, Ten Sports will offer the best of Indian basketball to our viewers. With increased opportunity to take up the sport professionally and with the training camps, we will see more talent coming through the ranks which will enhance the quality of play.”
Sethi added pay-TV operator Ten Sports will offer studio and wrap around shows as well as live broadcasts from the UBA Pro league.
The UBA Pro League comprises eight franchisees – Bengaluru Beast, Chennai Slam, Delhi Capitals, Haryana Gold, Hyderabad Sky, Mumbai Challengers, Pune Peshwas and Punjab Steelers.
Matches are broadcast on Ten Action and Ten HD on two slots, at 4.30pm and 7pm.
