The Hulu over-the-top (OTT) service in Japan and Starz Digital have expanded their STARZ Original series content licensing agreement.
evil deadHulu in Japan now has the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) rights in Japan to premiere the popular worldwide series, Ash vs Evil Dead, based on the classic horror film, and seasons one and two of the drama series, Power.
This new deal follows a licence of the STARZ Original series Black Sails by Hulu in Japan from Starz Digital in January 2016.
Power is the story of a visionary crime drama set in two different worlds: the glamorous New York club scene and the brutal drug trade.
Ash vs Evil Dead is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film The Evil Dead. The premium TV series reunites the original filmmakers - director Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell. Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter. The plot sees a plague of evil dead — sentient zombies — threatening to destroy all of mankind.
The latter is also going global: UK cableco Virgin Media recently announced that it is bringing cult US TV show Ash vs Evil Dead to the UK, exclusively for its TV customers.
