Samsung, Movistar deploy pilot VR experience for El Clásico

Telefónica’s Movistar+ and Samsung are to launch a virtual reality (VR) pilot experience during today's El Clásico football match.



samsung gear vrDuring the Barcelona vs Real Madrid game, Movistar+ will broadcast a live trial feed to Samsung Gear VR devices. A specially designed app will enable viewers to sit in a virtual place inside the Camp Nou stadium and choose between three different perspectives during the game.

In addition to VR viewing, Samsung Gear VR users will have access to Movistar+’s regular signal and live statistics during the match.

As Mediapro is producing a 4K signal of El Clásico, which is to stream to the world in partnership with NeuLion, Telefónica’s pay-TV platform has also announced an Ultra HD broadcasting for IPTV subscribers.
