Mexico’s Televisa is premiering the first exclusive series for blim just a month after the launch of the over-the-top (OTT) platform.
40 y 20Following a similar strategy to other OTT players around the globe, and backed by its own long-standing content production experience, Televisa has launched 40 y 20 solely for blim subscribers. The 26-episode production is split into two seasons and stars Jorge Van Ranking, Mauricio Garza, Michelle Rodríguez and Mónica Huarte.
Directed by Gustavo Loza, 40 y 20 is said to be the first of many pieces of content produced for the Latin American streaming platform.
After for some time having only a vague OTT strategy, Mexico’s largest TV group decided that 2016 was the year to start seriously focusing on streaming and video-on-demand (VOD).
Indeed, since blim launched at the end of February, Televisa has announced two important content deals with 9 Story and the BBC, and has stated its intention of removing its own content from Netflix.
