Tigo Plays for VOD in Guatemala

Tigo Star has launched Tigo Play in Guatemala, a TV everywhere video-on-demand (VOD) platform and part of Millicom’s over-the-top (OTT) portfolio in Latin America.


tigo play guatemalaTigo Play enables users to watch live and VOD content from companies including HBO, FOX and ESPN, including HBO GO, AXN, E!, Cinemax, Fox Sports, NatGeo, Cinecanal and Fox Life. It also includes an on-demand catalogue with films and series.

“Through Tigo Play we aim to create different digital experiences, driving mobile technology, in order to complete subscribers’ entertainment,” said Marvin Martínez, Tigo Star director. “We are expanding content watching beyond the home.”

In fact, providing OTT content for mobile screens is one of Millicom’s cornerstones in Latin America, as the company intends to drive data demand while deploying 4G networks across several territories. The telco has been strengthening this strategy for the last two years.

As a TV everywhere service, Tigo Play can’t be subscribed to as a stand-alone service, but it will be available for free for Tigo customers in Guatemala.
