Not only have Spain’s largest telcos scored the rights for beIN Sports’ La Liga channel, but now regional cable operator Telecable has announced a rights deal for the football channel.
estadioHot on the heels of the announcement that Orange and Vodafone have purchased the pay-TV rights of the Mediapro-produced La Liga network, Telecable has announced an agreement for beIN Sports La Liga for the next three seasons.
Through the deal, Telecable has become the first Spanish regional cableco to secure La Liga rights, with similar pay-TV operations, such as Euskaltel or R currently showing no interest in football rights.
The beIN Sports La Liga channel will offer, through to 2019, eight games from the Spanish football first division per week, always including one from Real Madrid or Barcelona. It will also deliver the Copa del Rey, except for the final and semi-finals, and extra content from the second division.
Telecable, which operates in the Northern region of Asturias, where it is the market’s dominant player, will also offer Mediapro’s beIN Sports Champions League network, as it has been doing during the current football season.
