RTVE explores new formats through interactive technology

Having last week announced a virtual reality production, Spain’s RTVE has now premiered its first interactive fiction movie, expanding into experimental video formats.


el caso interactivoThe public broadcaster, through its innovation lab, has produced Tu Primer Día en el Caso, an interactive short movie based on the in-house series El Caso.

As if playing a video game, viewers are given a role inside the action, becoming a journalist at the El Caso newspaper, on which the series is based. Viewers will interact with the short movie through several games, deciding how the film will end.

“This interactive short movie is part of the public broadcaster’s bet on exploring new formats to complete the viewers’ experience,” stated RTVE.

Last week, the company announced a virtual reality and 3D experience included in the transmedia strategy of its series The Ministry of Time.
